We offer a place of hope and new beginnings by providing, coordinating, and delivering an efficient system of care for people experiencing homelessness in San Antonio.
Haven for Hope and our partners, address the root causes of homelessness by offering programming tailored to the specific needs of the individual. Our approach is person-centered, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented. The goal is to meet individuals where they are and support them as they move toward self-sufficiency.
Animals
It all started on my husband’s 96-acre ranch in Angleton, Texas. I was transplanted from suburbia to the ranch in 2009 – I fell in love with all the critters….kinda like Elly Mae Clampett – I named them all and loved them everyone – I’d go out and spend time with them, dance around them – sing to them and talk to them.
This experience has transformed our lives completely. Spiritually, I will never be the same – my destiny and calling has found me. At the end of my rope, when nothing but divorce and 30 slaughtered cows looked like the only way, a dream was born that was bigger than anything I could have ever dreamed up on my own. All of my skills are now being translated into veganism, animal rights, an old fashioned farm and creating lasting sanctuary for farm animals.
Friends of Austin Animal Center supports pets inside Austin Animal Center and its surrounding community - the nation’s largest no-kill community. As the city’s open intake shelter, approximately 18,000 animals who are lost or surrendered visit Austin Animal Center each year. These animals are in the shelter’s care before they are reunited with their owners, are transferred to other adoption facilities or rescues, or are adopted into their forever homes.
An all volunteer organization, Friends of AAC bridges the gap between the city shelter and the animals in its care, providing innovative programs to help shelter animals find (and stay) in forever homes.
