Vegan

BVS organizes an active schedule of educational, outreach, and community building events (read about them on our Events & Activities page). We also organize the annual Boston Veg Food Fest, one of the largest vegan events in the world. We encourage non-vegetarians and vegetarians alike to join us as we learn and share information, friendship, and community in carrying out our Mission. BVS is an all-volunteer organization.

The MV Vegan Society is dedicated to the education, advocacy, and promotion of plant based living for the benefits to our health and environment.

Redefining the pub.

PlantPub is on a mission to make plant-based food approachable and fun for all, allowing people to eat better for themselves and better for the planet in a setting that is familiar and social, the pub. With a focus on supporting the most sustainable local farmers, craft brewers, and the best plant-based brands on the market, we are redefining the pub.

Cookery

For over 25 years, Leslie Cerier, โ€œThe Organic Gourmet,โ€ is an internationally renown Farm to Table Chef, Cookbook Author, Motivational Speaker, and Cooking Teacher specializing in vegetarian, vegan, plant based, and gluten free meals for optimal health and pleasure. The mission of Eat to Thrive is to prevent obesity, chronic disease, and malnutrition through the education and advocacy of healthy living. This is manifested in four programs. Firstly, Eat to Thrive. A 10-week course that gives the option of certification as a health educator. Secondly, Healthy Living at Home. Offers clients certified health educators to prepare their meals and teach them to sprout and live according to the Hippocrates Health Institute. In addition, counseling is available online or in-person, and finally, public education by renowned speakers and potlucks.

Book Publishers

Growing vegan awareness & promoting social consciousness one book at a time!

Vegan Publishers has been highly successful in fulfilling its mission, publishing, selling, and donating numerous books, with many of their authors becoming prominent voices in the animal movement. The imprint has over 340,000 social media followers and has participated in various activities to raise awareness, serving an important function within the advocacy community. The philosophy of Vegan Publishers is reflected in Dr. Taftโ€™s approach to his work as a clinical researcher: determine what is missing in the literature and fill those gaps. This has meant that they sometimes produce books that are not necessarily very profitable, but serve an important educational function. While other publishers have focused exclusively on cookbook production, for example, Vegan Publishers has addressed the large void in vegan childrenโ€™s literature, animal advocacy, philosophy, and ethics โ€“ and in doing so, illuminating the many ways in which we are culturally indoctrinated to do harm to nonhuman animals. The imprint has been operating under a โ€œnon-profitโ€ ethos from the start as service, rather than profit, has always been their goal.

Kids

Enhancing the Farm to School program, Real Kids Real Food offers an exciting virtual experience-based program for ages 3-18 designed around four components: 1) preparing recipes and the benefits of healthy foods; 2) emotional wellbeing: chronic stress prevention and intervention; 3) disease prevention such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease; and 4) integrating these components with climate change and actions that can be taken to make a difference. Real Kids Real Food is taught by a certified health instructor with the support of many university interns in public health and/or education.

Animals

Positive Change for Animals (โ€œPCAโ€) is a volunteer organization devoted to improving the lives of animals through social transformation and community engagement. Founded on positive principles, PCA sponsors volunteer events and social gatherings that enlighten, educate, and offer hands-on activities to help animals and build a strong cultural foundation for animal rights. PCA is a welcoming and friendly organization always seeking new members who want to connect in friendship and participate in group campaigns to help shelters, sanctuaries, activist, and vegan organizations. Our motto is โ€œProgress for Animals, Togetherโ€!

Mass Audubon protects more than 38,000 acres of land throughout Massachusetts, saving birds and other wildlife, and making nature accessible to all. As Massachusettsโ€™ largest nature conservation nonprofit, we welcome more than a half million visitors a year to our wildlife sanctuaries and 20 nature centers. From inspiring hilltop views to breathtaking coastal landscapes, serene woods, and working farms, we believe in protecting our stateโ€™s natural treasures for wildlife and for all people

Why should I consider hiring a pet sitter rather than boarding my pet? Boarding can sometimes be traumatic for pets due to them being taken away from their familiar habitat and being placed in an uncomfortable environment. Also, boarded pets may not get the individualized attention that they would receive from a pet sitter.

Maple Farm Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary providing lifelong homes for abused, abandoned and unwanted farmed animals while promoting veganism and respect for all life through public information. Maple Farm Sanctuary has taken in a fraction of the billions of farmed animals that are bought, sold, tormented and slaughtered by the meat, dairy and fur industries.

Earthlands is an Earth-based educational Center in Central Massachusetts in Petersham, near the vast Quabbin Reservoir.

Earthlands is the home of the Institute of Environmental Awareness, a non-profit, educational organization whose mission is to โ€œprovide Earth-centered educational and personal transformational experiences that empower and inspire people to participate as skilled, conscious, and joyful contributors to the evolving life on Earthโ€. Through the Paths of Personal Transformation and Regenerative Ecological Living, Earthlands programs and services are designed to integrate oneโ€™s ecological, social, spiritual, economic, and emotional aspects in order to empower all to live more creatively, regeneratively, and consciously with the Earth and all life.

We are dedicated to saving abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs from high-kill shelters in Central Arkansas and beyond. Though our rescue efforts are focused in the Central Arkansas area, we also serve as a resource for local dog surrenders, shelters, and special rescue efforts in other areas. We donโ€™t discriminate on the basis of age, pre-existing medical conditions, or breed, because every dog deserves to know love.

As the literal โ€œlast hopeโ€ of the dogs we serve, our southern fosters pull dogs and puppies from partner shelters in Arkansas. While in foster, each dog receives love, care, and medical treatment, then receives a health clearance and transports to New England. After a mandatory 48-hour quarantine stay and an additional health clearance, each dog is picked up and fostered by a northern foster family who serves as a gateway to his/her adoptive home, affectionately known as a FURever home.

Loving Our Mother means saving the planet from pollution and ecological destruction. We educate and seek solutions to combat the Earths biggest challenges.

Study of complex issues surrounding the changing role and impact of animals in society. Work conducted by the Center is based on the tenets that animal well-being matters, that animal and human well-being are linked, and that both are enhanced through improved understanding of human-animal relationships.

Together, we will end animal experimentation in our lifetime.

Politics

MASS VOTERS FOR ANIMALS HELPS ELECT LAWMAKERS WHO WILL PASS HUMANE LAWS

Mass Voters for Animals works to elect the most humane-minded candidates to public office in Massachusetts so that these legislators can enact laws and policies to protect animals. We also work to defeat candidates who oppose enacting protections for animals and who seek to pass legislation that would harm animals.

By involvement in these campaigns, animal advocates can impact the outcome of elections in favor of animal-friendly candidates. We can be an identifiable voting block that will encourage more candidates to recognize the importance of animal protection issues.

Pro-animal nonprofits, because of their charitable status with the IRS, are legally prohibited from electioneering activity (supporting and opposing candidates). A political action committee (PAC) is therefore uniquely needed to build a body of humane-minded elected officials in Massachusetts who will work to protect animals from neglect, cruelty and exploitation. Please join with us with this crucial effort.
